Driving Instructor Training Information
Our Northampton Driving Instructor Training Course will help you become a fully qualified driving instructor.
Pro-motion’s training course will include a combination of online, in-car and classroom sessions together with study materials and ongoing support.
To achieve this qualification you will need to pass three training stages.
ADI part one: Theory
The first part of the qualification process involves two tests which you must take and pass at the same time in order to progress to stage two.
The ADI Theory Test: This is a multiple choice test lasting 90 minutes which checks your theoretical knowledge of driving and driver training. You must achieve an overall mark of 85% to pass.
The Hazard Perception Test: This test uses a selection of 14 randomly chosen video clips featuring developing hazards, one of which will feature two hazards. You will be assessed on how you identify and respond to the developing hazards. To pass this test you must score 57 points out of 75.
Pro-motion will prepare you with all the necessary training and study materials and guidance for you to pass these tests. Study materials include; Home study pack, instructor’s hand book, high way code, DVSA question bank and theory CD.
ADI part two: Driving Ability
Part two is an advanced practical driving test which checks your driving ability. You must be able to demonstrate a professional manner and high standard of driving ability with a DVSA examiner. The test is approximately one hour.
Pro-motion’s training course uses a combination of online, in-car and classroom sessions, including an online interactive driving course, in-car video sessions, plus in car training.
ADI part three: Teaching Ability
Part three tests your ability to instruct pupils and pass on your driving knowledge to others. You will be assessed on Core Competencies including; Identification of Faults, Fault Analysis and Remedial Action. Instructional Techniques including; Level of Instruction, Planning, Control, Communication Skills, Q&A Techniques, Feedback & Encouragement, Use of Controls and Attitude & Approach.
Our driving instructor training involves a combination of online, in-car and classroom sessions, including online interactive driving course, in car and class room video sessions, development of lesson plans and in-car training.
We will initially provide you with one-to-one in-car training, at which point you can decide whether to take the trainee licence route or continue purely with the part three training.
Trainee ADI license – Earn while you learn
You can apply for a trainee driving instructor license, which will allow you to drive with Pro-motion as a potential driving instructor. You will gain experience teaching pupils to drive whilst you prepare for your ADI part three test. This allows you to start earning a living as a driving instructor. The licence lasts for 6 months.
You will continue to receive training prior to passing your part three test. Once you pass your test you can apply to be added to the DVSA register of approved driving instructors. You can then decide if you wish to join the Pro-motion team and sign-up to the franchisee package.
